“COSTA DA MORTE” (COAST OF THE DEATH) TOUR
Excursion to one of the most rugged and beautiful coastal places in Galicia: the famous “Costa da Morte” where one can enjoy spectacular views.
We left Santiago quite earlyin the morning, following the path that made the pilgrims from Santiago to Finis Terrae (the end of the medieval world).
Our first stop takes us to Ponte Maceira, one of the best preserved villages in Galicia with its emblematic medieval bridge.
After a brief stop to discover the town we go to the coast crossing the incredible Sierra del Barbanza (habitat of wild horses) stop at the viewpoint of Alto das Paxareiras, from where in addition to incredible views we can see Cape Finisterre.
Then we will descend to Carnota and from there always following the coast to Finisterre on the way we will make a brief stop in O Ezaro to enjoy the only river in Europe that flows into a waterfall.
Stop in the village for lunch and at the beach Langosteira (where the pilgrims collected their shell before returning to their homes) and then continue to the legendary lighthouse; where is the zero km of the Camino.
The Camino de Santiago did not end in Santiago, the pilgrims after the obligatory visit to the tomb they continued until the medieval Finis Terrae, there was the place where the pilgrims burned their clothes and picked up their shell: the well-known scallop that worked as a symbol and at the same time recognition of the pilgrims.
